Covey Rise wants everyone to be able to read our stories, browse our shop and manage their subscription, including people who use assistive technology such as screen readers, screen magnifiers, voice control or keyboard-only navigation.
Our standard
We aim for our website to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities.
What we do
- Test the site with automated accessibility tools and by navigating it with a keyboard alone.
- Make menus, forms, product options and the cart usable with a keyboard, with a visible focus outline.
- Label buttons, links and form fields so screen readers can announce them.
- Keep text in colors with enough contrast against its background.
- Add descriptive alternative text to images, and keep pages in a logical heading order.
- Review new pages, products and articles as we publish them.
Known limitations
Accessibility is ongoing work, and some parts of the site may not yet fully meet the standard:
- Some older articles carried over from our previous website may have images without full descriptions. We are updating them.
- Some features are provided by other companies, including the digital magazine viewer, advertisements, email sign-up pop-ups and the subscription account portal. We choose partners with accessibility in mind, but we can't control their content fully. If one of them gets in your way, contact us and we'll help directly.
