Two bobwhite quail burst into flight among the tall pines of Georgia, their wings illuminated by shafts of late-day sunlight. Terry Allen captures the birds in a fleeting moment of movement, their warm, patterned plumage standing out against the deep greens and shadows of the forest. The photograph conveys the sudden energy of a covey rise while preserving the natural beauty of the birds and their habitat. For those familiar with the excitement of a quail hunt, the image captures a moment that is as memorable as it is brief.
