Time flies when you’re having fun, and we’ve been doing just that, putting together an issue worthy of your focus, time, and treasure. There’s nothing like the holiday season to remind us of what really matters most in life.

In this issue of Covey Rise, we followed a group of Land Rover enthusiasts through the streets of London, parading their older trucks about and sharing a sense of the season. It’s easy to imagine that Santa himself would turn to an older Land Rover if the sleigh ever gave him any trouble on his big night. Keeping things British for a bit, we also marked the 250th anniversary of Rigby & Sons, a famed UK gunmaker whose history is equally as compelling as the promise of its future.

For something a little different, we asked artist Fred Stivers to record his experience—using his own words and his iconic images—at the National Championship at Ames Plantation. The combination seems to bring each element to life in unexpected ways. And speaking of bringing things to life, we sit down for a visit with artist Kate Hall, whose colored pencil creations could easily be mistaken for high resolution photographs.

And then there’s the bear story. Well, it’s not really a story about a bear. It’s a story about an incredible hunting and fishing lodge in Alaska that unknowingly cast a bear as a supporting actor. If you’ve considered a trip to the northern frontier, this story will pique your interest.

These are just the beginning—the tip of the iceberg, to offer a seasonal metaphor. We hope your hunting season is evolving as you’d imagined, maybe better. We appreciate you joining us on this journey and in this lifestyle.
